OakNorth Visa debit card

We can issue you – and members of your team – a free OakNorth Visa debit card when you open a business account with us.

Admins can order cards any time in the app or web platform.

To order a card:

  1. Go to β€˜Cards’ section of the app or web platform
  2. Select ‘Order card’
  3. Follow the prompts

Once your card arrives in the post, you can activate it in just a few steps:

  1. Open the OakNorth app
  2. Tap the message on your Home screen prompting you to activate your card
  3. Enter your card number and CVV
  4. Tap β€˜Activate card’

You’ll get a confirmation once it’s done – and your card will be ready to use straight away.

We send all OakNorth Visa debit cards by Royal Mail 1st Class, and they usually arrive within a week.

If it’s been more than 7 business days and your card still hasn’t arrived, contact us and we’ll look into it for you.

For security reasons, a PIN is automatically assigned to your card. If you’d like to change it, you can do so at any ATM by selecting β€˜PIN services’ from the menu and following the prompts.

We’ve put limits in place to help protect your account. The maximum amount you can spend in a day is Β£50,000.00, and the maximum for a single transaction is Β£50,000.00. When it comes to withdrawing cash, the limit is Β£750.00 each day.

While most transactions are fee-free, certain activities may incur charges, such as ATM withdrawals and international transactions. If you’d like to know more, see a breakdown of our fees.

Our cards can be used whereverΒ VisaΒ is accepted in the UK, most of the European Economic Area (EEA), the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Qatar, Israel, Singapore, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Operations in some countries mightΒ be prohibited – for theΒ fullΒ list of where you can and can’t use your card, head toΒ our restrictions page.

Please note that international transactions may be subject to fees and currency conversion charges. Learn more about our fees and Visa’s exchange rate.

The billing address for your OakNorth Visa debit card is your company’s correspondence address. You provided this when you first set up your business account. To check it, go to the β€˜Cards’ section of the app, or head to the β€˜Company details’ section of your profile settings on the app or web.

Sometimes, the final amount for a transaction can vary slightly from the initial charge. This can happen for various payments, such as booking a hotel or renting a car, tipping at a restaurant, or even catching public transport.

If a transaction has left your account balance negative, you’ll need to top up as soon as possible to be able to use your account again. Until you do so, transactions will decline because there won’t be enough money in your account.

For more information, see our Terms and Conditions.

Need to order a card for someone on your team? You can do this directly in the app or web platform – just make sure they’re already added to your account.

If there’s a payment in your recent transactions list that you don’t recognise, tap on it to see more details. In this view, you’ll get the merchant name and the transaction’s date and time. As a first step, we recommend contacting the merchant and asking them to provide more information and clarify any discrepancies. It’s possible that the transaction was legitimate but appeared differently on your statement.

If you still don’t recognise the payment, contact our team by calling 0330 380 1181 to report it, and we’ll investigate immediately.

If you need to report your card as lost, stolen or damaged, call our support team on 0330 380 1181 (or +44 330 380 1181 if you’re outside the UK). We’ll cancel your card immediately and order you a new one.

Here are a few things you can do to protect your card from misuse:

  1. Memorise your PIN and avoid writing it down or sharing it with anyone.Β
  2. Be vigilant when using ATMs and card terminals. Inspect them for any signs of tampering or skimming devices, and cover the keypad when entering your PIN to prevent others from seeing it.
  3. Store your card in a safe location when not in use.Β
  4. Exercise caution when making online purchases, and make sure you only provide your card details on secure and reputable websites.Β Learn how your online shopping is secured with Visa.
