The interest rate depends on the type of account you have with us.
For most accounts, interest rates are variable and can go up or down at any time to reflect changes in market conditions. The exception is Fixed Term and Fixed Rate Cash ISA accounts, which have a fixed rate that stays the same until the end of the term.
If we increase the interest rate on your account, weβll email you as soon as we can β and always within 30 calendar days of the change taking effect.
If we decrease your rate, weβll give you at least 14 daysβ notice before the change happens β or at least 14 days plus your notice period if itβs a Notice account.
For more information, see our Terms and Conditions.
As your OakNorth account nears maturity, weβll email you at least 14 days in advance with your options and next steps. You can select your maturity option through the web platform or app.
Depending on your account type, youβll be able to reinvest all or some of your funds in a new OakNorth account, or withdraw everything to your linked account. If you donβt select your preferred option by the maturity date β or if weβre unable to carry it out (for example, if your linked account is closed) β your funds will be moved into a Simple Saver account.
If you have a Fixed Term Cash ISA, your funds will be moved into an Easy Access Cash ISA. And if you have an Easy Access Cash ISA, thereβs no maturity date β your money will stay where it is.
You can open multiple savings accounts with OakNorth. If you already have an account with us, simply log in to the web platform or app and tap βOpen a new accountβ. Once youβve submitted your application, weβll review it and carry out our usual checks to confirm your details.
Just keep in mind that the total amount you can deposit across all your OakNorth accounts must not exceed Β£500,000 (this doesnβt include any interest you earn). For joint accounts, this means the maximum combined balance is Β£1,000,000 β thatβs Β£500,000 per account holder across all accounts.
The interest rate on your OakNorth account depends on a few factors, including the account type, the rate available when you apply and broader market conditions. Rates can change, so itβs always a good idea to read through the Terms and Conditions of each account before applying.
You can view the interest rate of your account by logging in to the web platform or app. If you donβt have an account yet, rates are shown next to each account on our website.
For most accounts β including Easy Access, Notice and ISAs β interest is calculated on your minimum daily balance and applied monthly, on the first day of the following month. Youβll see it added to your OakNorth account balance each month.
For Fixed Term accounts, interest is calculated daily from the day your funds are received, compounded annually and paid at maturity β directly into your OakNorth account.
How and when you can close your account depends on the type you hold.
Easy Access Tracker and Easy Access Cash ISA

These canβt be closed early once funded and past the 14-day cooling-off period, unless there are exceptional circumstances. If this applies, email us and weβll review your request.
Fixed Rate Cash ISA
You can close or transfer these early, but early withdrawals may result in a loss of tax benefits and a penalty charge:
