Birmingham, 5th November, 2026: OakNorth, the leading digital bank for entrepreneurs, has provided a material funding package to returning customer, Macc Care Group, the Birmingham-based care home developer and operator, to support its continued growth and expansion across the UK.
Founded in 2004 by Dr Naz Nathani, Macc Care Group has grown to become one of the UK’s leading developers and providers of elderly care. Birmingham-based, the group has a strong presence across the Midlands and Central England and is developing key clusters of homes in attractive urban conurbations across the country, an approach that allows it to share expertise, develop its people and maintain consistent standards of care in each area. The group currently operates 20 care homes and expects to end the year with 22. Its properties are designed to meet the evolving needs of residents, with en-suite rooms, high-quality amenities including salons, cinemas, activity spaces and landscaped gardens, and strong transport connectivity to local communities.
The loan facilities will refinance existing debt and support the development of a new 80-bed care home in Sandy, Bedfordshire. The purpose-built development will offer residential, nursing and dementia care, with all bedrooms featuring en-suite wet rooms. The new home will also include a range of amenities, including a gym, cinema and landscaped outdoor spaces, helping to address growing demand for modern, high-quality care accommodation in the local area. The transaction builds on OakNorth’s long-standing relationship with Macc Care Group, having previously provided financing to support the group’s established care home portfolio, as well as development projects. The latest funding package reflects OakNorth’s continued commitment to supporting experienced care operators throughout the full lifecycle of their properties, from development and construction through to stabilisation and long-term operation.
Dr Naz Nathani, CEO of Macc Care Group, commented on the transaction: “Our ambition has always been to create exceptional care environments that combine high-quality facilities with compassionate, person-centred care. As demand for modern residential, nursing and dementia care continues to grow, we’re focused on expanding our portfolio in locations where we can make a meaningful difference to residents and their families. Having grown to 20 homes, and on track for 22 by the end of the year, our focus is on building strong clusters in attractive urban conurbations across the country, where we can share expertise, develop our people and maintain consistent standards of care. This latest funding package represents another important step in our growth journey, particularly as we look to bring forward our new development in Sandy. OakNorth is a trusted funding partner, and its understanding of our business, combined with its flexible and commercially minded approach to lending, has been invaluable in helping us pursue our ambitions. We’re delighted to be strengthening our relationship further.”
Dale Cowdell, Director of Debt Finance at OakNorth, added: “Having worked with Naz and the team at Macc Care Group for a number of years, we’ve seen first-hand the strength of their operating model, the quality of their developments and their commitment to delivering outstanding care. They’ve built an impressive business with a clear strategy for identifying locations where there is a genuine need for modern, purpose-built care accommodation. This latest transaction demonstrates the breadth of support we’re able to provide to ambitious operators like Macc Care Group. By combining refinancing and development finance within a bespoke funding package, we’re helping the group strengthen its existing portfolio while unlocking opportunities for further expansion. The planned development in Sandy is a particularly exciting addition to its pipeline and will help deliver much-needed care capacity for the local community. We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with Macc Care Group and supporting the next phase of its growth.”
