Getting people access shouldn’t slow your business down 

In fast-moving businesses, collaboration is everything. But something as simple as giving a colleague access to your business bank account? That was harder than it should’ve been. 

At OakNorth, we’ve always supported multiple users per account – but until recently, the process to add them wasn’t keeping up. Admins were stuck chasing paperwork, following up with our team, and waiting longer than necessary to get people set up.  

And when we looked at what other UK banks were doing, things looked even worse. Some required in-branch visits. Others relied on printed forms or outdated processes. It was creating confusion and friction, all for something that should take minutes, not days. 

Less admin, more autonomy 

So, we set out to fix it. We started by mapping the entire user invite journey and removing anything that didn’t need to be there.  

The result? A fully self-serve way to invite teammates onto your account, without needing to contact support or wait around. Admins stay in control, and users get the access they need – quickly and securely.

With the new self-serve experience, account admins can:

  • Set access levels right away 
  • Track who’s joined, and manage everything from one dashboard 
  • Rely on built-in security like two-factor authentication for extra peace of mind

No scanning, chasing, or phone calls. Just a few clicks, and you’re done.

Since rolling this out, we’ve seen invite setup times shrink from days to minutes – and customers are telling us it’s helping them move faster, stay secure, and avoid the kind of admin that drains time and energy. 

What’s next 

Right now, invites work on a company-by-company basis. But we know many of our customers operate more than one account – and want to manage users across all of them in one go. 

That’s what we’re working on next: tools to invite people across multiple businesses at once, manage access more flexibly, and see who has what permissions at a glance.  

Because business banking should work with your team, not against it.
